  • Samsung revealed a prototype 360 folding display and waterdrop hinge at CES.
  • New images show exactly what the prototypes can do.
  • It’s believed that the prototypes could be used in the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5.

If there’s one thing that bothers consumers about foldable phones, it’s the screen crease. Samsung has been working on a way to eliminate that crease once and for all and it may have done it with its new prototype screen and hinge. Now we have new photos that show the technology in action.

Samsung came to CES 2023 with two product concepts: its “Flex In and Out” display and a new hinge. What makes the display interesting is its ability to rotate 360 degrees, so on a foldable phone, the screen could be folded inward or outward. As for the hinge, its design allows for a looser shape — resembling a waterdrop — when folded inward which results in the crease being significantly less noticeable.

Also, for the same reason, different regions have different histories, but they all intersect — in myriad ways — at different points in history. Below are some important basics to get you started.
